ARE WE DOOMED

Professor James Lovelock , on tuesday 28/11/2006 at 5th John Collier lecture to Institute of Chemical Engineers in London declares that world population which is about 6.5 billion may come down to as load as 500 million, as the earth hots up and makes human survival difficult.

He also replaced the term Global Warming by Global Heating
Prof. james is the expert who has proposed the Gaia theory and is working on the theory of Global Warming for quite some time.

He said that the delicate balance of atmosphere that has been drastically changed by the industrial revolution will reach its break-point this century.
As the carbon dioxide emission reaches its peak ; the world will heat up , causing water shortage ,destroying life in planets ocean and making it impossible for plants to grow.

He added , "There have been at least seven of these major climate changes before and we have to adapt . It is going to be tough and there will be some evolution of humans during it

He said that ," There is a very good evidence of what happened 55 millin tears ago when as much carbon dioxide was put into the atmosphere by the geology as is been done by us now . Temperature zoomed up and stayed there for 200,000 years then become normal.

"If it happens the only survivors will be those humans that can make there way to refuges or the polar areas . i think a awful lot of people will die but i dont see the human species dying out . i would think a hot earth would not support much over 500 million of us ."
He said attempts to tackle climate change will not solve the problem , but merely buy us some time . He warned there are no simple solutions and there is nothing

And above all it is irreversible like a slow poisen that is definate to kill about 90% of mankind this very century, what can we possibly do ????
